MCP Connector

9 min read · Last updated Oct 21, 2026

The GeoRetina AI MCP connector brings GeoRetina AI into Claude, ChatGPT and other apps that support the Model Context Protocol (MCP). From a conversation in your assistant you can run risk and conservation analyses for a place or study area, explore the resulting maps and figures, read result tables, download files, read saved reports, and manage what GeoRetina AI remembers.

Server URL

https://app.georetina.ai/mcp (Streamable HTTP, OAuth sign-in). You sign in with your GeoRetina AI account; you never need an API key or a token in the conversation.

Before you start

  • A GeoRetina AI account. The connector works with an existing account. Create one at app.georetina.ai if you don't have one.
  • Credits. Analyses run through the connector use your account's credits, as they do in the app. See Credits & Usage.
  • Access. What you can run depends on your account. Super mode and some specialised analyses need the matching plan or access; asking for them in your assistant does not grant it.
  • Saved memory (optional). To have GeoRetina AI remember preferences and results, turn on memory in GeoRetina AI under Settings → Memory.

Connect your assistant

In every app, connecting opens GeoRetina AI's sign-in page. Sign in with your GeoRetina AI account (and complete two-step verification if your account uses it), review the access requested, and approve it. You then return to your assistant.

Claude

Free, Pro and Max plans

1 · Add the connector

In Claude, open Customize → Connectors and select Add custom connector. Name it GeoRetina AI and enter https://app.georetina.ai/mcp as the server URL. If Claude asks how it should identify itself, choose Register automatically. Select Add.

2 · Sign in

Select Connect, then sign in to GeoRetina AI and approve the access.

3 · Use it in a chat

In a conversation, select + → Connectors and make sure GeoRetina AI is turned on. Then ask for an analysis.

Team and Enterprise plans. An organization Owner adds the connector once under Organization settings → Connectors: select Add, then Custom, choose Web if asked, and enter the server URL. Each member then opens Customize → Connectors, finds GeoRetina AI and selects Connect to sign in with their own GeoRetina AI account.

When GeoRetina AI is listed in Claude's connector directory, you can connect it from its listing instead of adding it by URL.

Claude Code. Add the server from a terminal, then run /mcp in Claude Code to sign in:

bash
claude mcp add --transport http georetina-ai https://app.georetina.ai/mcp

ChatGPT

Add GeoRetina AI as a custom MCP server

1 · Add the server

Open ChatGPT Plugins, select the + button, then Add custom MCP server. Name it GeoRetina AI, and under Connection enter https://app.georetina.ai/mcp.

2 · Choose OAuth and create it

Choose OAuth for authentication, review ChatGPT's warning about custom servers, select I understand and want to continue, then Create as a plugin. Sign in to GeoRetina AI and approve the access when ChatGPT asks.

3 · Use it in a chat

Install the plugin, start a new conversation, type @ in the prompt box and select GeoRetina AI. Then ask for an analysis.

Whether you can add custom MCP servers depends on your ChatGPT plan and, in a workspace, on its admin's settings.

Other MCP apps

Any app that supports remote MCP servers over Streamable HTTP with OAuth and dynamic client registration can connect with the same URL. The interactive results viewer needs an app that displays MCP Apps; in other apps, results come back as text, tables and links.

Run an analysis

Describe what you want, where, and for which period. For a precise boundary, attach your study area to the chat, for example as a GeoJSON file; your assistant reads it and sends the boundary to GeoRetina AI. Data in another format, such as a zipped shapefile or KML, works when your assistant can convert it to GeoJSON. You can also paste GeoJSON into your message, and well-known place names work too. Your account sets a maximum study-area size; a larger area is refused with a message giving both sizes.

GeoRetina AI picks the analysis workflow, and it asks when it needs a parameter or a confirmation from you. Answer with your own choice.

Land cover

Map land cover for summer 2026 in the study area I've attached and explain the classes.

Follow-up on the same area

Now run an urban heat island analysis from 2022 to 2024 in the same area.

Super mode

Run a wildfire susceptibility analysis for the area in the attached file using Super mode.

Core is the default mode. Ask for Super when you want deeper analysis, combined results or a report, and your account includes it; see Core and Super Modes. Follow-ups in the same conversation keep GeoRetina AI's context, such as the study area and completed analyses.

Long-running analyses

Many analyses take a few minutes. Your assistant then shows the latest progress for the running analysis. To check on it, ask something like "Check on that GeoRetina analysis". Don't send the original request again: that starts a second analysis and uses credits twice. To stop a running analysis, ask your assistant to cancel it.

Explore results

Ask your assistant to show the results of a completed analysis. In apps that display interactive views, such as Claude and ChatGPT, GeoRetina AI's results viewer opens in the conversation with the analysis map layers, legends and figures. The viewer loads its map tiles and figures directly from GeoRetina AI's servers (tiles.georetina.ai and cdn.georetina.ai); if your network blocks them, the viewer says so, and your assistant can still describe the results from the returned text.

Results report their units, coverage and limitations. Use them when you interpret or share findings, and ask follow-up questions in the same conversation to compare or explain them.

Tables, files and reports

  • Tables. Ask your assistant to read rows from a result table. It reads a page at a time (up to 200 rows); for a large table, ask for a download link instead.
  • Downloads. Ask for a download link to a file the analysis produced, such as a raster or a table. Links expire after a short time; ask again for a fresh one. Anyone with a valid link can download the file until it expires, so share it only with people who should have it.
  • Reports. Ask GeoRetina AI to create a report from completed results, then ask your assistant to read it. It reads the report's text, tables and embedded data, or its saved HTML. Reading a report does not run its scripts or load its images, and the connector does not convert reports to PDF or Word: open the report in GeoRetina AI for that.

Saved memory

GeoRetina AI's saved memory is separate from your assistant's own memory. When memory is turned on in GeoRetina AI, it can keep preferences and project decisions you state, and the results of completed analyses, to use in later conversations.

  • Ask your assistant to show what GeoRetina AI has saved. It lists only what was saved through this connected app; memory saved in the GeoRetina AI app or through other apps is kept separate.
  • To remove an entry, ask your assistant to find it and forget it. It asks you to confirm first. Forgetting stops GeoRetina AI from using that entry; it does not delete your conversations or other account data.

Tools

The connector exposes these tools. Your assistant may ask for your approval before running a tool that changes data, depending on its settings.

ToolWhat it doesChanges data
start_analysis_conversationStarts a GeoRetina AI conversation from your request and study area; may start an analysis that uses credits.Adds
continue_conversationSends a follow-up in the same conversation: questions, another analysis, or a report.Adds
get_turnChecks a running analysis and saves GeoRetina AI's reply once it finishes.Adds
confirm_analysisReads or answers a question an analysis is waiting on, such as a parameter or an area.Adds
cancel_turnCancels a running analysis.Yes
get_analysisReads an analysis's status, results and available files. No
show_analysis_resultsShows an analysis's map layers and figures, in the results viewer where the app supports it.No
read_table_rowsReads a page of rows from a result table.No
get_artifact_linkReturns a short-lived download link for a result file.No
get_reportReads a saved report's details.No
read_report_contentReads a saved report's text or HTML, a page at a time.No
list_saved_memoryLists the saved memory this connection can see.No
forget_saved_memoryForgets one saved memory entry, after you confirm.Yes

Two more tools, get_results_view and read_results_view_data, are used only by the results viewer to load its maps and figures. Your assistant does not call them itself.

The connector does not buy credits, change account settings or passwords, or send reports by email.

Your data and privacy

  • What GeoRetina AI receives. The requests your assistant sends to the connector's tools, including your messages to GeoRetina AI and any study area you provide. GeoRetina AI does not read your assistant's memory, chat history or files.
  • What it keeps. Your GeoRetina AI conversations, analyses and their results, reports you create, and, when memory is on, saved memory, all in your GeoRetina AI account.
  • Disconnecting. Remove GeoRetina AI in your assistant: under Customize → Connectors in Claude, or on the ChatGPT Plugins page in ChatGPT. To revoke access from GeoRetina AI's side, open Settings → Connected apps in GeoRetina AI and disconnect the app.

See the Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions for how GeoRetina handles your data.

Troubleshooting

  • Sign-in fails. Check that you can sign in at app.georetina.ai/login with the same account, then connect again. In Claude, choose Register automatically if Claude asks how to identify itself; in ChatGPT, choose OAuth.
  • New or changed tools don't appear in ChatGPT. Open GeoRetina AI on the ChatGPT Plugins page, select Refresh, and start a new conversation.
  • An analysis or mode isn't available. Your account doesn't include it, or the data isn't available for that place and period. An error means the analysis did not run.
  • A download link stopped working. Links expire; ask for a new one.
  • The viewer shows a notice instead of a map. Read the notice: your network or app may be blocking GeoRetina AI's map servers. An empty viewer does not mean an empty result; ask your assistant to summarise the results, or open the analysis in GeoRetina AI.
  • A report changed while your assistant was reading it. Ask it to read the report again from the start.
